For a moment, out of the corner of her eye, Luna was certain that she saw a Nargle fly past outside the window, however when she turned her head to examine further it had already gone, presumably in search of something else to steal. Luna sighed in disappointment, turning her attention back to the magazine in front of her. It was September 1st and as usual Luna Lovegood was sat alone in a compartment near the back of the Hogwarts Express. Solitude had never bothered the girl, she had after all spent an awfully large amount of time alone over the years, however this was mainly because of how proficient Luna was at entertaining herself.
At this exact moment the young Miss Lovegood was engrossed in a copy of the Quibbler that was already showing signs of wear from how often it had been read, examining an article that detailed exactly what depths Cornelius Fudge was willing to sink to in order to gain control of Gringotts. Before she’d read the article Luna had never even considered that the Minister of magic could be doing something like that, but now that she knew about it the story seemed to make perfect sense. She supposed there must have been a swarm of Wrackspurts inside her head and blocking the realization, one that had only vacated her when she read the article. Making a mental note to have her father send her a new pair of spectrespecs, Luna flipped over to the next page of the Quibbler, eyes falling upon a fascinatingly complex looking rune puzzle.
Luna had been dearly anticipating her return to Hogwarts, so much so that her father had suggested an Aquavirius Maggot was amplifying her emotion. Unfortunately she hadn’t had time to search for said creature, for she had been far too distracted packing and unpacking her trunk in a flurry of indecision over what she’d need and what she wouldn’t mind getting stolen. She’d occasionally noticed that Nargles stole her possessions a lot more often when she was at Hogwarts, however had put this down to the mystical aura of the castle attracting them in far larger numbers then at her own home. Still, in all the distraction she hadn’t found any time to complete the Quibbler’s puzzle, so with a characteristically dreamy smile on her face she quickly flipped the magazine over and began to stare at the figures on the page.
