Carmen Lovine made her way through the dungeon hallways, wishing she didn't have to go catch up with a friend down there. She got the whole idea of the place being 'ever-so-slightly creepy' in the certain friend's terms, but really? Did they have to meet there before lunch? He knew how she felt about the dungeons and anything to do with Potions!
As if that wasn't enough to keep her away from the place, it wasn't as well-lit as other parts of the school, and when added to her already low level of balance that was basically asking for disaster…or at the very least several bumps and bruises.
Carmen braced one hand against the wall, glaring at the expanse of hallway before her for thirty or so seconds before starting dashing down the hall, subconsciously flailing her arms while squeezing her eyes shut and hoping not to fall flat on her face.
"Please don't trip, please don't trip…" the Gryffindor chanted under her breath.

“I expect you to have that Potion Perfect by the time I return Longbottom and if you fail again, It’ll be more then just 50 points from Gryffindor do you understand?”[/b] Neville Longbottom, one of Snapes most reviled students, gave a faint squeak in reply to the commanding tones of the Potions master before he left the room, taking care to slam the door as hard as he could to make his point clear. How the hell Longbottom had managed to survive in his class for the past 4 years, Snape didn’t know, though he had a funny feeling Miss Granger had something to do with it.
The rest of the class had been dismissed well over half an hour ago and as Longbottom had failed to mix the set potion correctly five times in a row so far, Snape highly doubted that leaving him alone in the classroom for 10 minutes would improve the boys performance, then again miracles did sometimes occur. Turning around with a swish of his robes, Snape started towards the stairway that would lead him up into the main castle when a flurry of dark hair and material came dashing around the corner and shoved past him, slamming him into the cool stone wall of the corridor.
Whirling around angrily and pulling out his wand, he pointed it at the retreating back of his assailant and gave a yell of ‘Impedimenta’ causing whatever it was to stop abruptly in its tracks, only to find himself staring at the back of a Gryffindor student. His eyes narrowing angrily, Snape closed the distance between himself and the girl in seconds and pulled her roughly around to face him. Staring directly into her eyes, he spoke “Well Well…”[/b] His tone was quiet but a warning hovered behind it. “…Miss Lovine. Permit me to ask who it was that told you running in the corridors was not a direct violation of the School rules?”[/b] He was a few feet taller then her, no doubt adding to his already intimidating presence.

Carmen felt the contact of another human being and opened her eyes, assuming it was probably another student. Her guess, unfortunately, was incorrect, a fact proven to her when the voice of the person caused her to stop dead in her tracks with 'Impedimenta'. The voice was that of Professor Snape, most likely her least favorite teacher at Hogwarts.
If she could've gotten away with it in front of the Potions Master, she would've let slip some of her more colorful vocabulary. But that would be asking for certain doom. The urge to do so grew stronger as he turned her around to face him and looked her in the eyes.
Her face fell upon his statement. No running in the halls, oh yeah. She'd forgotten that one. Carmen tilted her head down, not wanting to make eye contact again. She was already making estimates in her mind of how many points Gyffindor would be taken for this. Her top answers ranged from fifty points to ninety.
"I'm so sorry Professor Snape. I seem to have forgotten that particular rule. I'm an N.E.W.T. student and I guess that the work is starting to get to my head already. And I apologize for bumping into you. I wasn't paying attention…I mean I thought no one would be in the halls…" both reasons were likely to get her in trouble. She needed to be better at shutting her mouth.
